Introducing Anna: A Life in Corporate Through Her Eyes

Hello, everyone. I’m Anna. I’m a 56-year-old gay woman who’s spent her entire career in the corporate world-navigating its highs, lows, and everything in between. Over the years, I’ve seen it all: the hilarious moments that make your sides ache, the heartwarming connections that restore your faith in humanity, and, unfortunately, the dark corners of bullying, discrimination, and toxic behaviour. These experiences have shaped me, challenged me, and, most importantly, taught me lessons that I now want to share with you.

This blog is my way of connecting with you, whether you’re in the thick of corporate life, considering stepping into it, or reflecting on your own journey. I’ll be writing stories-real, raw, and honest-about what it’s like to work in environments that can be both exhilarating and exhausting. Some stories will make you laugh out loud; others might strike a chord deep within. My hope is that they will help you realize you’re not alone in what you’re feeling, whether it’s joy, frustration, or even isolation.

I’ll talk about the good: the teams that felt like family, the mentors who lit the path forward, and the victories (big and small) that reminded me why I showed up every day. I’ll also talk about the bad: the microaggressions that chipped away at my confidence, the times I questioned my place at the table, and the moments I felt unseen or unheard. And yes, there will be plenty of funny stories, too-because let’s face it, the workplace is often a theatre of the absurd.

As someone who’s faced discrimination for being gay and for simply being myself, I know how isolating it can feel to navigate a system that isn’t always built for people like us. But I also know the power of resilience, community, and self-belief. Through these stories, I want to show you that it’s possible to find your voice, create change, and thrive-even in the toughest environments.

So, whether you’re here to commiserate, to laugh, or just to know that someone else “gets it,” welcome. This space is for you. Let’s share stories, lessons, and maybe even a little hope as we navigate this wild, unpredictable world of work together.
Stay tuned-the first story drops soon.
